Cooperation with Ariane Group France

October 8, 2025

The 5th edition of the Future Technology Days, an innovative challenge aimed at strengthening cooperation between major French aerospace companies and European SMEs, start-ups and research institutions, has been launched.

The most important facts about the format "in a nutshell"
  • The partner of the challenge is Ariane Group - France
  • Identification of needs by Ariane Group-France
  • Dissemination and approaching companies via EEN partners
  • Depending on the challenge, start-ups, SMEs or research institutions are the target group
  • Innovative solutions or R&D partners are sought for defined challenges, but sometimes also "off-the-shelf" products
  • The effort for expressions of interest (EOI) is manageable: simple submission via a one-pager (PPT slide) to the respective EEN partner
  • Participation is only possible via the EEN
  • In contrast to other tech challenges, applicants always receive feedback
  • If the feedback is positive, online meetings take place. There is usually one predefined day per topic on which all meetings take place.

The following topics are addressed for the current call:

Space Transportation - In Orbit Servicing
  • Orbital transfer: Cooperation for orbital rendezvous and proximity operations
  • In-Orbit Inspections and Maintenance with Innovative Robotic Solutions
  • Orbital Fuel Depot and Refueling: Chemical storage and transfer of propellants, including cryogenic variants
Avionics
  • Sensors for technological demonstrators, e.g. wireless pressure sensors for long-term pressure measurements in metallic tanks
  • Altitude measurement technologies for reusable carrier systems, with a focus on precise distance and speed measurements under extreme environmental conditions
  • Future defense systems with electromagnetic detonators, GNSS antennas for high temperatures and high frequency telemetry equipment
Mechanical Devices and Tools
  • Pyrotechnic-free alternatives to pyrovalves
  • Adaptive optics for space observation, ready for implementation
  • Mechanical separation systems and actuators for launch system designs and defense applications
  • Manufacturer of large stainless steel tanks for cryogenic applications
Hydrogen
  • High-precision cryogenic valves for low LH2 flow rates
  • Temperature probes for cryogenic applications that can be easily integrated into small pipes
  • High-pressure cryogenic tanks and super-insulated flexible piping for cryogenic and high-pressure applications

The application deadline for this challenge is October 27, 2025, by which date the application one-pager must be submitted via the Enterprise Europe Network.
