First draft: Code of Practice on Artificial Intelligence for General Purposes
14.11.2024
The EU Commission has published the first draft of the Code of Conduct for Artificial Intelligence (AI) for general purposes. The rules for general AI models under the AI Act will enter into force in August 2025. The Code of Conduct aims to facilitate the proper implementation of these rules and will play a crucial role in the future development and deployment of trustworthy and safe AI models for general purposes in the EU.
Key points of the Code:
- Transparency and copyright: the Code provides detailed guidance for AI providers on how they must ensure transparency and respect copyright.
- Risk assessment: Classification methods and risk mitigation measures are defined for high-performance AI models that pose potential systemic risks.
The Code will be further developed over the coming months, with the final version expected to be published in May 2025.
