Carbon management is increasingly becoming a key issue for industrial transformation. Especially in sectors where emissions cannot be completely avoided, new approaches to managing CO₂ are taking center stage—technologically, economically, and politically.
How can CO₂ management be structured in the future in a way that integrates climate protection, industrial competitiveness, and technological innovation?
This is precisely the question at the heart of carbon management. Where CO₂ emissions are difficult to avoid for technical or process-related reasons, entirely new solutions, robust policy frameworks, and collaboration among industry, academia, politics, and government are needed. Carbon management is therefore a key building block on the path to a climate-neutral industry.
In Bavaria, too, there is a growing need for guidance, networking, and concrete knowledge transfer. In this interview, the head of the Carbon Management Coordination Office at Bayern Innovativ explains the role the office plays in this context, which challenges are particularly relevant at present, and what opportunities this presents for Bavaria as a hub for innovation and industry.
