In 2025, the Egis energy cooperative increased its membership, business equity, and revenue. In addition, new projects in heating, photovoltaics, and wind energy were launched.

The Bavarian energy cooperative “EGIS eG” (Energiegenossenschaft Inn-Salzach) closed the 2025 fiscal year with growth in membership, member equity, and revenue. At the general meeting on June 29, the members approved a dividend of 3.2 percent. According to the cooperative, this amounts to a total distribution of approximately 782,000 euros.

As of the end of 2025, Egis had 3,199 members, 447 more than a year earlier. According to current figures, membership has since risen to more than 3,400. The cooperative states that this makes it the largest energy cooperative in Bavaria. Members’ capital shares rose last year from approximately 22.6 million euros to about 27 million euros. The Egis Group’s revenue increased from approximately 11.2 million euros in the previous year to about 11.8 million euros.

In the heating sector, the cooperative drove forward several projects in 2025. The focus was on projects in Amerang in the Rosenheim district, as well as in Garching an der Alz and Emmerting in the Altötting district. According to the company, the heating networks were already supplying more than 1,150 people by the end of 2025. In Garching an der Alz, Egis is currently planning another heating network that will be powered by geothermal energy in the future. According to the cooperative, the project is in the approval process for the heating plant.

Entry into Wind Energy Last Year

The photovoltaic business was also expanded. New community solar parks were connected to the grid in Marktl and Pirach. In addition, Egis prepared further solar and storage projects with a planned total capacity of 35 MW. Board member Pascal Lang explained that, given the growing importance of storage for integrating renewables into the power grid, the cooperative intends to “further expand this area in a targeted manner” in the coming years.

Last year also marked the cooperative’s first foray into wind energy. Together with Teckwerke Bürgerenergie eG, it is participating in the repowering of the Minden-Hahlen community wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia. There, six wind turbines, each with a capacity of 1.8 MW, are to be replaced by three turbines, each with a capacity of 5.7 MW. This new area of activity is intended to complement the company’s existing operations in the fields of photovoltaics and heat supply.

Egis announced further investments in photovoltaic systems, battery storage, and district heating networks for the coming months. Among other things, the focus will be on district heating projects in Aschau am Inn and Lindenberg.

According to the cooperative, interest in community energy cooperatives continues to grow. Since spring 2026, astrophysicist and science journalist Harald Lesch has been among the members.
