Transnational Knowledge Communities
Advanced, Sustainable, Bio-based Materials in the Danube Region
June 26, 2026
The development of knowledge communities, which began as part of the “RTIT” project funded by the EU through the Interreg Danube Program, will continue even after the project ends! All participating project partners signed an agreement to continue their collaboration.
The New Materials Cluster remains committed to building knowledge communities that connect stakeholders from academia, industry, and innovation systems in the Danube Region and facilitate structured exchange on the key topics of bio-based materials, sustainable materials, and advanced materials.
These communities promote:
- knowledge transfer within the Danube region
- the application of research findings in companies, especially SMEs
- the development of joint innovation projects
To date, more than 200 companies have participated through the 13 project partners from 8 countries to test the measures developed. Support from the project partners in the respective countries remains available to companies.
In Bavaria, the New Materials Cluster of Bayern Innovativ remains the central point of contact for the knowledge communities established through the project and continues to provide support in:
- networking and exchange
- Initiating innovation projects
- Utilizing the methods and tools developed
This ensures that the structures established during the project will be utilized and further developed over the long term. The RTIT project was co-financed by the European Union as part of the Interreg Danube Region Program.
