The Energy Launchpad Award 2026 marks the launch of a new competition to promote innovation in the energy sector.
The initiative is backed by ETH Zurich, TU Wien, TUM Venture Labs, UnternehmerTUM, Verbund, EnBW, and Energie 360°, among others. The program is supported by InnoEnergy and OMV.
The goal of the competition is to accelerate the transformation of science-based energy innovations into market-ready companies and to connect startups with investors, industry partners, and potential customers.
The competition comprises two categories: The Idea Energy Award is aimed at researchers, students, and startup teams in the pre-launch phase. The top three teams will receive prize money of 5,000 euros, 3,000 euros, and 1,500 euros, as well as access to the Energy Launchpad network, mentoring, and a summer school.
The Startup Energy Award honors companies that have already been founded. Among other benefits, they will have the opportunity to present their solutions to more than 60 investors, establish contacts with energy companies such as Verbund, EnBW, and Energie 360°, and initiate pilot projects and strategic partnerships.
Applications for both categories are open until October 13, 2026.
