TexReKat promotes transparency in the textile circular economy

July 16, 2026

TexReKat is developing a publicly accessible catalog of recyclable textiles. The project provides companies with guidance on materials, recycling, and recycled content for a sustainable textile industry.

Starting in 2026, the TexReKat (Textile Circularity Catalog) research project will create the first scientifically sound, publicly accessible catalog for recyclable textile products. The project compiles information on materials, recycling processes, recycled content, and technical and environmental assessment criteria, thereby creating a reliable foundation for industry, research, and policy. A particular focus is on determining realistically achievable recycled content levels in textile production to support companies in implementing circular strategies and meeting future regulatory requirements. In addition, a digital platform is being developed that continuously updates the catalog and facilitates knowledge exchange within the Circular Textile Community. TexReKat thus makes an important contribution to greater transparency, guidance, and innovation capacity on the path toward a sustainable European textile industry.
