The digitalization of the construction and real estate industries continues to gain momentum.

This is demonstrated by the latest Technology Report 2025 from Digital Findet Stadt, which is based on a survey of 138 companies and institutions. The study provides a data-driven overview of the use of digital technologies in the Austrian construction industry and highlights which solutions are already creating economic value today.

The report focuses on seven key technologies that are shaping the industry’s transformation. It becomes particularly clear that digital solutions are gaining traction primarily where they offer concrete benefits, such as more efficient processes, higher data quality, lower error rates, improved planning capabilities, and new data-driven business models.

The report identifies the use of artificial intelligence as the most dynamic development. While only eight percent of respondents used AI regularly in 2024, this share rose to more than 51 percent within a year. As a result, AI is increasingly becoming an important tool for planning, analysis, and decision-making across the entire value chain of the construction and real estate industry.

Other technologies are also gaining importance. These include, in particular, Internet of Things (IoT) applications, smart building products, and 3D scanning methods. They open up new possibilities for building monitoring, the efficient operation of real estate, and the optimization of energy consumption. Furthermore, they support informed decisions throughout the entire life cycle of buildings.
