Review: Arts and Crafts Mile Erlangen 2025
Creativity, craftsmanship and regional added value in Erlangen
17.10.2025
In October 2025, Erlangen's city center presented itself not only as a stage for creative arts and crafts, but also as a vibrant economic area. Around the Stadttheater, 20 craftspeople from Erlangen and the surrounding region showcased their work as part of the Kunsthandwerksmeile Erlangen 2025. The two-day event not only offered visitors an insight into the quality of craftsmanship and diversity of design, but also underlined the economic importance of regional arts and crafts as part of a growing cultural and creative industry.
The exhibited works ranged from hand-woven bicycle baskets, unique textile items and pieces of jewelry to ceramic finishes using Japanese firing techniques. The variety of materials - wood, metal, glass, fabric, knitwear, ceramics, porcelain, wickerwork and woven goods - impressively illustrated how innovative, sustainable and marketable modern handicrafts are today.
A central idea of the event was the combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. This results in unique pieces and small series that impress with their individual design and meticulous production. It thus forms an important interface between craftsmanship, art and business and exemplifies the creative entrepreneurial spirit that characterizes the cultural and creative industries.
As a sponsor of this year's Arts and Crafts Mile, we are delighted to have made a contribution to the visibility of regional arts and crafts and to strengthening the cultural and creative industries in Bavaria. The event impressively demonstrated how much passion, skill and innovative strength there is in the industry and how valuable platforms are that raise public awareness of creative craftsmanship.
