"Energy Manager of the Year" goes to Kerstin Andreae, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of the German Energy and Water Association (BDEW).

Kerstin Andreae, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), has been named "Energy Manager of the Year 2025". With this award, the media publisher Energie & Management (E&M) honors outstanding personalities from the energy industry. The winner was chosen by a jury of experts.

Kerstin Andreae is the first time that the E&M award has gone to a female association manager. As E&M publisher Helmut Sendner rightly points out, Andreae is not a classic energy manager whose successful actions are measured by rising sales and profits. "She is a facilitator for the 2,000 members of BDEW, a pragmatic discussion partner in the political debate and in public perception."

The jury voted for Kerstin Andreae by a large majority. The experts were impressed by the way Andreae has led BDEW through turbulent times in recent years. Since the end of Russian gas supplies, she has made a decisive contribution to reorganizing the gas supply in Germany. She is particularly committed to the restructuring of the heating supply - with a focus on the targeted expansion and promotion of municipal heating networks.

Great passion for the interests of the industry

BDEW has continued to develop under her leadership. A key challenge remains the balance between large energy companies, municipal utilities and municipal suppliers across the entire value chain - from generation and trading to grids and sales.

She herself says, "In my role as head of the energy industry association, I have the honor of being the voice of our member companies. I am passionate about representing their interests and act at the interface between business and politics."

For Professor Christian Held, partner at the law firm Becker Büttner Held and jury member, Andreae has so far proven to be a lucky hand in leading the most important association in the German energy sector.

Dr. Christof Spangenberg, Managing Director of "m3 management consulting GmbH" and also a member of the jury, explains that Andreae "does what is feasible and maintains realism and pragmatism without losing sight of long-term goals."

The award winner was born on October 21, 1968 in Schramberg in the Black Forest. Andreae studied economics at the University of Freiburg and gained her first professional experience in project management and in the field of renewable energies. In 2002, she entered the Bundestag as a member of the Green Party. Andreae has been Managing Director of BDEW since 2019.

The award will be presented to Andreae at the evening event as part of the E&M Energy Managers Conference on September 25 in Berlin.
