June 2026 Monthly Review: Insights from the Cultural and Creative Industries
Creative Tech: Between Innovation and Collaboration
July 6, 2026
In June, the focus was on new perspectives at the intersection of culture, creativity, and technology. From the Creative Industries Day in Frankfurt to Wavecamp in Munich and the Nuremberg Digital Festival, these events demonstrated the diverse ways in which creative tech drives innovation, exchange, and new forms of collaboration.
The Creative Industries as a Driving Force
On June 5, 2026, the 9th Hesse Creative Industries Day took place in Frankfurt am Main. Under the theme “Creating Value,” around 700 participants gathered, including our colleagues Sivanne Burbulla and Veronika Fischer. The focus was on how the cultural and creative industries can drive new business models, innovation, and digitalization—and thereby have an impact beyond their own sector.
Funding and Support at Wavecamp
On June 10, 2026, 45 students from the fields of art, film, and music gathered at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts for Wavelab’s Wavecamp. Our colleague Charlotte Stegmayer was part of the program with a presentation on funding and financing, offering insights into support opportunities for creative projects.
Culture in the Age of AI
How is artificial intelligence changing culture, creativity, and institutions? This question was the focus of the event “The Future of Culture in the Age of AI” at the Neues Museum in Nuremberg. As part of the Nuremberg Digital Festival, the Bavarian Foundation for Cultural Future and the Bavarian Cultural Atlas brought together diverse perspectives and created a space for exchange and discussion, in which we participated as a partner.
XR Technologies in Focus
At the XR Day hosted by XR HUB Nuremberg as part of the Nuremberg Digital Festival, companies, startups, experts, and interested members of the public from the metropolitan region came together. Exhibitions, interactive displays, and keynote speeches offered insights into current developments in virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality. We were also there as exhibitors and took the opportunity to engage with the XR community.
The events in June demonstrate just how diversely the cultural and creative industries are helping to shape technological developments. Whether it’s AI, XR, new business models, or financing: the exchange between different disciplines creates new perspectives and momentum for creative tech.
