The Institute of Energy Technology (IfE) has published a new white paper on the Energy Utilization Plan Plus (ENP+).

The advanced planning tool is aimed at municipalities and districts facing the challenge of holistically managing the expansion of renewable energies, increasing electricity and heating requirements and issues of supply security.

The ENP+ sets new quality standards in municipal energy planning. At its heart is an energy system simulation with a high temporal resolution, which can be used to realistically map regional energy flows. This allows different scenarios to be evaluated in a well-founded manner and strategic decisions to be better prepared.

A central feature of ENP+ is the consistent integration of sector coupling. In addition, thematic focus modules such as transport and mobility, hydrogen, biomethane and charging infrastructure are included in the analysis. This results in an integrated view of the entire regional energy system, which enables municipalities to make realistic and implementation-oriented plans.

With the white paper, the IfE offers a practical guide on how regions can drive forward their energy transition strategically, based on data and taking local characteristics into account.
