FLEXNET - Innovation network for individualized functional components
29.09.2025
The University of Bayreuth is launching FLEXNET, a new innovation network for the further development of the 3D printing process Fluid-MEX. The aim is to produce complex silicone components with customizable properties for applications ranging from medical technology to mechanical engineering.
The project is being funded with around 135,000 euros via the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM). Seven companies are already involved and further partners are welcome. The kick-off took place on September 30, 2025 at Fraunhofer IPA in Bayreuth. Fluid-MEX enables the tool-free production of elastomer components with high functionality. The university is responsible for both research and network management.
