This year, the Nuremberg University of Music is organizing D-bü, the competition of students from German music universities. The final will be held from May 28, 2024 to June 1, 2024 at various venues in the Nuremberg city area with numerous concerts.
Students from all German universities of music have applied. Eight ensembles were selected by the pre-selection jury led by Artistic Director Anselm Dalferth, Professor of Concert and Performance at the Nuremberg University of Music, and Artistic Advisor Steven Walter, Director of the Beethovenfest Bonn, and have now reached the final. The audience can look forward to exciting concerts at extraordinary venues. But D-bü is more than just a competition: D-bü also promotes professional exchange and further qualification of the participants through workshops and labs.
Announcement of the award-winning ensembles
The winners of the competition will be announced at an award ceremony at the Nuremberg University of Music on June 1, 2024.
D-bü is a competition for special concert formats that takes place every two years at one of the 24 German music academies. In 2017, the competition was held in Berlin for the first time. The music academies in Germany are thus creating an event format that is clearly different from traditional classical music competitions: possible entries for D-bü are a wide variety of performance types that deviate from the "usual" classical concert. In 2024, D-bü will be hosted by the Nuremberg University of Music for the first time.
