Interior in the car: interior and comfort

The automotive interior represents an important differentiating feature between different brands. For customers, it is an essential criterion in their purchase decision - because the interior allows them to fulfill their demands for comfort, value and individuality. In its "Interior and Comfort" topic area, the Automotive Cluster networks companies and scientific institutions with relevance for the automotive interior of the future.

The interior of tomorrow will be influenced by new mobility concepts, electric cars and autonomous driving. When cars control themselves, people have time for other things. That's why designers are now designing offices, sleeping pods and luxury suites on wheels. With autonomous driving, a new type of driver is emerging. He is a passive passenger like in an airplane, ICE or coach. But in a private atmosphere, which he can create himself thanks to technology. The vehicle is increasingly becoming a personal living and relaxation space.

This will massively change the interior of vehicles. A visually appealing and modern design will become increasingly important. Adaptive functions that adjust to the user and functional areas that can be operated intuitively will be integrated into the surfaces of the cockpit or in the door panels. Designers and developers are faced with the challenge of transforming the interior into an experience space. It should arouse emotions and appeal equally to all the senses. The interior is becoming the distinguishing feature of automobile manufacturers.

Activities of the Automotive Cluster

Once a year, the Automotive Cluster organizes the forum "Interieur im Automobil“. This is where developers and users from OEMs, automotive suppliers and research institutions meet. The forum offers you a platform to discuss trends and challenges, materials and technologies for vehicle interiors with other experts and to work out solutions together. The focus is on the wishes and needs of users. One major topic area is "connectivity" and the corresponding implementation in the automotive interior with innovative HMI solutions and user interfaces.
