How artificial intelligence enables circular value creation

01/20/2022

The development of industry toward a circular economy not only has far-reaching relevance against the backdrop of environmental protection, but also offers new economic opportunities. Studies predict that the circular economy approach will generate an additional $4.5 trillion in economic output worldwide by 2030. Digital technologies can accelerate this trend reversal and leverage previously impossible potential via the analysis of large volumes of data using AI.

In a joint cross-cluster project of the Cluster Mechatronics & Automation , the Environmental Cluster Bavaria , the KI Production Network Augsburg and the ZD.B thematic platform Digital Production & Engineering are bundling competencies and know-how carriers in order not only to highlight such potentials, but also to initiate company and research cooperations and to develop a suitable range of further education.

P.S.: A circular value creation system also relies on exchanging data and information with one another. This can be done via so-called data ecosystems. You can read about what this is and what examples already exist in our article "The New World of Data Spaces: Profiting from the Benefits of Digital Ecosystems" .
