Delegation trip to Japan 2026

The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Japan has opened the call for applications for the "Smart Factory & Robotics Mission to Japan 2026". Applications are open until September 21, 2025.

The initiative is aimed at innovative SMEs and cluster organizations from the EU or associated countries that are active in the field of industrial robotics and intelligent manufacturing and are interested in cooperating with Japanese companies.

Between 12 and 16 companies will be selected and given the opportunity to take part in a targeted visit and exchange program in Tokyo - including access to the renowned "Factory Innovation Week", which will take place from 21 to 23 January 2026.

Contents of the trade fair:

Factory Innovation Week brings together four leading trade exhibitions:

• Smart Factory Expo (IoT, AI, digital transformation)
• RoboDEX (industrial robots)
• Green Factory Expo (climate-neutral and energy-saving manufacturing)
• Manufacturing Industry's HR Expo (personnel development, HR services)

Aim of the delegation trip:

The event aims to help European companies make business contacts, gain market knowledge about Japan and explore cooperation opportunities with Japanese industrial partners - especially in the fields of AI, robotics and manufacturing technologies.
Participation requirements:

• Activity in an SME or cluster related to the topic
• Demonstrable interest in market development in Japan
• Support from the employer (informal letter)
• Participation in the full program
• English language skills of at least B2 level

Participants receive the following benefits, among others

• Access to the trade fair with their own presentation stand
• Visit to a leading Japanese company in the field of AI/robotics
• Support with translation, interpreting and intercultural preparation (incl. webinar on business etiquette)
