Long-standing partnership and intensive exchange: the guests from Japan learned about Industry 5.0, AI applications and manufacturing technologies in Bavaria

26.11.2025

A delegation from Saitama, Japan, spent a week in Bavaria visiting industrial innovation centers. The highlight was a visit to the joint stand of the Mechatronics & Automation Cluster at productronica 2025, accompanied by insights into AI solutions at the Application Center for Materials and Environmental Research (AMU) at the University of Augsburg and the Augsburg AI Production Network.

The delegation from Saitama Prefecture used their week-long trip to Bavaria to get to know various clusters and organizations and to strengthen existing contacts. In addition to a visit to the Automotive Cluster at Bayern Innovativ in Nuremberg, the program also included a visit to the Mechatronics & Automation Cluster at productronica and the Augsburg site. There, the guests were given a comprehensive overview of current developments in the areas of Industry 5.0, automation and AI-supported manufacturing.
The delegation took the opportunity to visit the cluster's joint stand at Productronica 2025 and to deepen the long-standing cooperation and close partnership between Bavaria and Saitama in discussions with member companies and experts.

In addition to visiting the cluster office in Augsburg, the delegation also visited the Application Center for Materials and Environmental Research (AMU) at the University of Augsburg. At our partner in the Augsburg AI Production Network, the guests were able to visit the AI Showroom - a practical exhibition of AI solutions for industrial production processes, ranging from process optimization and predictive maintenance to production simulation. They were also given an insight into Hall 43, a state-of-the-art production hall for demonstrations, experiments and live applications of innovative automation technologies.
The visit by the delegation from Saitama underlines the long-standing partnership and successful exchange of knowledge between Bavaria and the prefecture of Japan, particularly in the areas of Industry 4.0/5.0, AI applications and future-oriented production solutions.
