Bayern Innovativ Strengthens the iENA Evaluation Process

For 15 years, this partnership has been bringing together international inventions and technical expertise

November 3, 2026

The iENA International Inventors’ Fair took place for the 78th time this year. From October 31 to November 2, Nuremberg once again became a meeting place for inventors and key players from the worlds of research and business.

This year, the event showcased around 600 innovations from more than 20 countries and regions. These included solutions in the fields of environmental and energy technology, mobility, and information technology. iENA also offers inventors a platform to establish contacts with companies and potential partners for marketing their ideas.

Bayern Innovativ has been supporting the trade show for 15 years. The exchange with international inventors provides insights into the current state of the art and offers inspiration for the work of the departments. At the same time, Bayern Innovativ organizes the iENA jury, which consists of more than 20 jurors. Together with the “Energy & Construction” and “Patents & CE” divisions, a structured evaluation process was established for assessing the inventions and awarding medals.

"We have a long-standing partnership with Bayern Innovativ. The work of Prof. Dr. Oliver Mayer and Katrin Wägemann has played a key role in making the evaluation process for the medals so efficient that we can assess over 600 inventions in two days using a two-stage process."

Henning Könicke
CEO of AFAG and organizer of iENA

iENA is part of an international community where inventions are not only showcased but also connected with manufacturers, distribution partners, and licensees. In Nuremberg, the trade show is accompanied by an innovation conference; the Hack & Make creativity and technology festival takes place concurrently.
