Melanie Peter is a qualified textile designer with a degree from the Hof University of Applied Sciences, Münchberg department, in 2001. She completed a business diploma at the Nuremberg Academy of Administration and Economics in 2007 while working.

For 24 years, she has gained professional experience in various textile surface techniques and product developments at Rohleder GmbH. Since 2011, her focus has been on the development and research of new products in the pile fabric segment.

She used her specialist and expert knowledge to create e-learning courses for the digital knowledge platform "Textile Trainer" at Chemnitz University of Technology, Chair of Textile Technologies, 2021.

As a mentor within and outside the Rohleder company, she is committed to imparting textile knowledge and expertise along the entire textile value chain.

Since 2019, she has been working intensively on the topics of sustainability and the Cradle to Cradle concept. She uses a large network of industry and trade partners as well as contacts from research institutions and universities to research the topics of sustainable textiles, innovations, future work and AI-generated design with experts.

She has been leading the RecyTube research project in collaboration with Leni Rohleder since November 2023.
