Elke Büttner is a graduate engineer in materials science, specializing in materials for electrical engineering. She completed her studies at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1991.

Elke Büttner worked in industry for over 15 years for an international network supplier in the field of technical documentation and project management. She also gained two years of experience at a service company.

Elke Büttner has been involved in technology promotion in Bavaria since 2008. At Bayern Innovativ GmbH, she works for the Bavarian Project Management Agency and the Enterprise Europe Network. Since 2018, she has also been in charge of the Innovation Voucher Bavaria funding program.
