Position: Head of Hypersonic Solutions, Hypersonic Solutions

Christoph Müller heads the 'Hypersonic Solutions' department in MBDA Germany's 'Future Systems' division since November 2023. He is responsible for the national and international research and development projects of MBDA Germany in close cooperation with the responsible areas of the Bundeswehr in order to strengthen Germany's defense readiness in a targeted manner. Since 2024, Mr Müller has been Chairman of the NATO Applied Vehicle Technology (AVT) Panel of the NATO Science & Technology Organization (STO), to which he was appointed in 2021 to represent the Federal Republic of Germany in the priority areas of hypersonics and space in close coordination with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw). In this role, he heads several working groups and has led the NATO STO initiative on hypersonic research on behalf of the BMVg.

Since August 2022, Mr Müller has been acting Programme Coordinator for Security and Defence Research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). He was also responsible for the tasks of the Programme Line Coordinator Defence Research. In these functions, Mr Müller centrally coordinated around fifty defence research projects and sixty civil security research projects. He was responsible for a budget totalling 80 million euros. Mr Müller was the central point of contact for the Federal Ministry of Defence (BMVg) at DLR as well as for all ministries, subordinate authorities and organisations with tasks in the field of civil security.

From 2017 to 2020, Mr Müller worked as Executive Officer of the AVT Panel at the STO in Paris/Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Prior to that, he spent twelve years in the German Armed Forces with the rank of Captain, where he was responsible for the deployment and command of a platoon specialising in the disposal of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive weapons (CBRNe), including a deployment to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan in 2012.
Mr Müller holds a degree in mechanical engineering (FH) and a Master of Business Administration in International Management from the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich.
