Carolin Körner studied theoretical physics at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg and received her doctorate in the field of materials science.
Subsequently, Ms. Körner headed the lightweight materials group at the chair of Prof. R. F. Singer in 1997. In 2008, she habilitated in the field of materials science. Since 2011, she has headed the Chair of Materials Science and Technology of Metals at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (W3). Ms. Körner is primarily active in the fields of additive manufacturing (metals), casting technology (investment casting, die casting), process and microstructure simulation and alloy development.
Additional activities:
- Member of the collegial management of the Central Institute for New Materials and Process Technology in Fürth
- Scientific head of the "Additive Manufacturing" department at Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH
- Deputy spokesperson and site spokesperson for the SFB TR 103 "From atom to turbine blade"
- Scientific advisor: CAD² (Center of additive manufacturing, Sweden), MAPP (Manufacturing Using Advanced Powder Processes, Great Britain)
