Technology

The Association of Bavarian Savings Banks (SVB) and its 72 member savings banks have joined the Bavarian Climate Alliance as the 18th Bündnispartner.

The Bündnis was launched in 2004 with the aim of raising awareness of the issue of climate protection, highlighting opportunities for action and encouraging joint action in the interests of sustainable climate protection.

The Bavarian Minister of the Environment, Dr. Marcel Huber, and the President of the Bavarian Savings Banks Association, Theo Zellner, sealed the membership in January 2012. By joining, the Bavarian savings banks want to emphasize their active role as partners in the energy transition. President Zellner pointed out that the savings banks have already been actively involved in energy conservation for several years: "We have developed concepts on how to save energy. But we also show how our customers can participate in this trend, and we finance climate projects."

Practical examples include ökological self-optimization of company buildings, solar programs for private homeowners and financing in the area of municipal decentralized energy supply.

Several Bavarian savings banks offer Climate Savings Bonds to finance ökological and sustainable projects in the region.

The Bavarian Sparkassenstiftung is also strongly committed to climate protection in the field of environmental education.
