In view of the demographic development, the scientific focus of medical engineering is of utmost social relevance and embedded in an excellent research environment at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).

Scientists at FAU are making innovative and outstanding contributions to the various aspects of medical technology mapped in the MedTech Map: Biomaterials, Digital Health, Imaging, Medical Processes, Sensors & Robotics and Medical Technology for Society.

The Central Institute for Medical Technology (ZiMT) acts as an interface between industry and science. Its core tasks thus include, in particular, the coordination of the competencies of the numerous member institutions as well as the engineering

bachelor's and master's degree programs in medical engineering at FAU.
