Information
The goal of BayQS is to develop foundations, solutions, and prototypes in quantum computing (QC) on three focus areas: Secure QC Programming & Platforms, Robust QC, and QC-based (hybrid) optimization. Topics range from hardware-level modeling and simulation, to algorithmic problem solving, to secure and robust programming, to ease of use of QC. Central to the acceptance and use of future QC is digital sovereignty with respect to this key technology. This includes the security of quantum algorithms as well as hybrid computational models of QC platforms as well as issues of reliability of QC-based computations. One goal, for example, is to develop concepts and architectures to make new QC-based algorithms for optimizing processes secure and robust, so that intellectual property is safe from spying and manipulation.
Profile
BayQS bundles the core competencies of the participating Fraunhofer institutes in the three quantum computing research areas of security, robustness and optimization: Fraunhofer AISEC has many years of expertise in cybersecurity, Fraunhofer IKS researches the reliability of cognitive systems and Fraunhofer IIS brings competencies in mathematical optimization. The TUM, LMU and LRZ are directly involved as academic partners.
