As a "Competence Center for Excellent Technologies", we cover relevant value chains holistically with modern infrastructure and our international partner network. Our core competencies lie in materials research, process technology and sustainability assessment for wood and related renewable raw materials along the entire value chain. We develop methods and fundamentals and conduct applied research at the interface between industry and science. Our highly qualified team of around 130 people researches sustainable solutions for the future with passion, curiosity and creativity, thus shaping the state of the art and establishing new topics in the industry. Our research results lead to sustainable solutions for society. They contribute to the more efficient use of natural resources and their use in high-tech applications. As a result, the transition from "fossil carbon" to "renewable carbon" becomes better understood regionally to globally and technically feasible.
