The EHDS will create uniform standards for the use of health data throughout Europe. Germany is getting ready: The Health Data Utilization Act (GDNG) lays down initial framework conditions to make healthcare data more efficiently usable for research.

Overview

The European Health Data Space is coming, and with it EU-wide standardized procedures for using health data for research. The GDNG has created the first framework conditions to simplify the use of healthcare data in Germany in line with the EHDS.

As part of the Insight, key regulatory changes will be highlighted, current use cases from research on the use of healthcare data will be explained and the Honic research platform and its Trusted Research Environment will be presented as a platform model for the EHDS.

Dr. Henrik Matthies is co-founder and CEO of Honic, Germany's leading research platform for real world data (healthcare data). Previously, he was head of the health innovation hub of the Federal Ministry of Health until 2021, as well as founder of the German digital health pioneer Mimi Hearing Technologies, among others.
