12th Franco-German call for joint research and development projects opened

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the French development bank Bpifrance have launched the twelfth call for bilateral research and development projects. Medium-sized companies from Germany and France as well as German research institutions as partners of companies can submit applications for funding for innovative, market-oriented R&D projects until December 3, 2025.

Funding content and objectives

Funding is available for cooperation projects to develop new products, processes or technical services with high market potential. The call for proposals is deliberately designed to be open to all technologies and sectors in order to enable a broad basis for innovation.

Eligibility to participate

  • Germany: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and other medium-sized enterprises with fewer than 500 full-time equivalents; also non-commercial research institutions as partners.
  • France: SMEs and medium-sized companies with up to 2,000 full-time equivalents.

 

Funding conditions

  • Germany: Funding is provided as non-repayable grants under the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM).
  • France: Financing options via various Bpifrance programs.
