Innovation through cooperation - that is the aim of the pilot project Cooperation between SMEs and start-ups. One successful example is the collaboration between the startup trinnovative and the medium-sized company BHS Currogated. Together, the partners are laying the foundations for an agile development partnership to create innovative, digital solutions.
BHS Corrugated Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH is the leading solution provider in the corrugated board industry. With more than 3,500 employees at its headquarters in Weiherhammer, Germany, and in more than 20 countries worldwide, the lifecycle partner is consistently strong across its entire range of products and services. This includes corrugated board machines, systems and factories, Industry 4.0, logistics and single-pass inkjet digital printing. Customers receive end-to-end solutions - from development and production to installation and maintenance through to a wide range of innovative service solutions.
Under the motto "Corrugated 4.0", the company is driving forward the digitalization of the corrugated board industry in a targeted manner - with a focus on automation, efficiency and data-driven process optimization. BHS Corrugated reinvests almost five percent of its turnover in research and development in order to meet customer requirements as precisely as possible and to keep its finger on the pulse of technology.
Trinnovative is a growing, up-and-coming company from Regensburg that specializes in the development of innovative software solutions in the fields of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. As an experienced service provider, trinnovative supports companies from the initial project idea to the successful go-live. State-of-the-art technologies and frameworks are used to generate measurable added value from data. trinnovative's interdisciplinary team has extensive expertise and many years of experience in the implementation of sophisticated AI projects.
The cooperation project
As part of its collaboration with BHS Corrugated, the startup trinnovative acts as an agile development partner for innovative digitalization solutions. Suitable topics for cooperation were identified together - a key success factor here is the regular exchange and early involvement of all relevant stakeholders, who will later play an active role in implementation.
Two specific pilot projects have already been selected and are currently being further developed in a workshop format. Once this phase has been successfully completed, trinnovative will be commissioned to develop corresponding prototypes. The aim is to establish trinnovative as a long-term development partner for digital innovation projects at BHS Corrugated.

BHS Corrugated and the startup trinnovative got to know each other as part of the "Cooperation Talks: Startups and SMEs" format in Nuremberg in September 2024. The matching format offers established companies the opportunity to get to know startups specifically tailored to their innovation needs in curated one-on-one meetings. After the initial meeting, several in-depth discussions took place with various stakeholders from BHS Corrugated. Potential project ideas were collected and prioritized so that specific topics for joint pilot projects could be identified.
