Wanted - Contract manufacturer (chemistry) for the scaling of novel metal-cellulose hybrid fibers
March 10, 2026
An innovative Swiss materials science start-up has developed metal-cellulose hybrid fibers that are used for energy-efficient heating solutions in the automotive industry. To scale up production from lab to pilot scale, the company is looking for an experienced contract manufacturer for chemical synthesis processes who can take over the production of these materials on a scale of 100l to 1,000 l scale.
The patent-pending technology is based on a wet-chemical synthesis in which metal particles are introduced directly into natural cellulose fibers. The hybrid fibers are then processed into conductive paper that enables energy-efficient 2D heating technology - for example for heating mats in machines or vehicles.
Wanted partner/goals:
We are looking for companies with experience in customized chemical contract manufacturing, in particular:
- Wet chemical synthesis (140-180 °C)
- Handling of metal and cellulose components
- Post-processing (washing, fractionation, quality testing)
- Pilot or small series production with capacities between 100 L and 1,000 L
The aim of the cooperation is to upscale and outsource the proven synthesis processes for pilot production (200 kg/year over two years) - with the prospect of a long-term production cooperation. The company is focusing on commercial agreements with technical support or R&D cooperation for scale-up and process optimization.
In addition, the company is investigating EMC shielding applications, e.g. for cable sheathing or housings.
