Health Care BY Your Side: Strengthening acceptance of digitalization
Not just implementing, but understanding

Some information is difficult to grasp. Especially when it comes from specialized fields. It is often assumed that we understand everything and act accordingly. However, this is difficult when it comes to processes that affect everyday life or even the greatest asset - our health.
One example of this is the introduction of electronic patient records and other digital healthcare solutions such as e-prescriptions. Although the decision to introduce these applications has been made, for many people without previous digital experience or technical equipment, practical use represents a significant barrier. They risk being excluded from important developments in the healthcare sector.
It is crucial to include everyone in a digitalization project such as the electronic patient record. Because it affects everyone. The Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention has commissioned Bayern Innovativ GmbH with the Health Care BY Your Side project in order to strengthen health literacy and provide even better information. Medical Valley EMN e.V. is providing support as a network partner.
An innovative model region in Bavaria
Bavaria is the only federal state to have taken the initiative to supplement a telematics infrastructure model region for digital healthcare solutions with a project that supports and strengthens both service providers and the population in the introduction of new digital tools. The Franconia region combines urban and rural areas and is therefore an ideal location to show where there is a need for information and how innovative solutions can have a direct impact on the ground.
The project's methodology is based on regular scientific surveys conducted by the SRH University in Fürth. This allows the level of knowledge to be determined and the services for those affected to be constantly adapted to needs and circumstances.
Health Care BY Your Side relies on various approaches to strengthen health literacy: "On the one hand, there is the educational aspect of the project, for which we organize information events in the regions and answer questions. On the other hand, we also train service providers, for example medical or nursing staff, and we use information campaigns via various channels to reach people directly," explains Laura Sipple, project manager at Bayern Innovativ.
Reducing uncertainty - bringing innovation to life
The aim of the project is to seamlessly integrate digital solutions into people's everyday lives - without any additional burden for service providers. The use of these innovations helps to avoid errors, save resources and make healthcare more personalized and efficient.
Knowing that such solutions exist and how they work is the first step towards sustainable integration and effectiveness. Sipple also confirms this: "Most of the questions we receive from the population are easy to answer and are based on a lack of information. Once this has been clarified, people are often motivated and more courageous to try out the new solutions."

Health Care BY Your Side is a forward-looking pilot project that brings digital developments exactly where they are needed: to the people. It shows how regional strength and innovative power can go hand in hand - and how Bavaria is becoming a model for the whole of Germany.
