The Technische Hochschule Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS) and Stadtwerke Schweinfurt are working together on a sustainable heat supply for the future.

The "KOOP-WÄRME" research project is developing innovative solutions for municipal heat planning that will serve as a model for other cities.

Under the leadership of experts from the THWS and in cooperation with the Schweinfurt public utility company, a multi-stage optimization model is being developed that takes into account economic, technical and social synergies. A particular focus is on the use of low-temperature networks in order to better integrate renewable energies.

The three-year project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and aims to accelerate the heating transition through innovative concepts.
