Between December 18, 2024 and December 18, 2028, it is planned to expand the storage capacity of battery storage systems in Germany by around 4.7 gigawatt hours. The majority of this is to be accounted for by large storage systems (from 1,000 kilowatt hours). According to sources - RWTH Aachen University and the Federal Network Agency - this is mainly due to the fact that smaller home and commercial storage systems are often only reported when they are installed.
