Stadtwerke Kiel and Hanswerk Natur have founded the company "FördeWärme GmbH". The aim is to decarbonize local heating networks around the Kiel Fjord.
Stadtwerke Kiel and Hansewerk Natur have founded the joint company "FördeWärme GmbH", both utilities announced on 11 June. Förde Wärme is to take over existing grids, convert them to climate-neutral generation and develop new grids where economic implementation is possible. Both companies had already announced the project last December.
The company will take over Stadtwerke Kiel's existing local heating networks if they are not to be integrated into Stadtwerke Kiel's central district heating network. These include supply networks in Holtenau, Neu-Meimersdorf and Projensdorf. Stadtwerke Kiel also announced that the customer contracts will be transferred without any changes to the existing conditions.
According to the extract from the commercial register, the new company is based in Kiel at Stadtwerke Kiel. Stefan Meyer and Simon Wobken are listed as managing directors.
New networks planned in selected districts
According to the utilities, Förde Wärme is currently analysing the acquired grids with regard to their decarbonization potential. They are to be operated in a climate-neutral manner by 2035 at the latest. In Schilksee, Friedrichsort and Elmschenhagen, Förde Wärme is also examining the development of new local heating structures. The basis for this is a high heat line density and suitable areas for decentralized generation.
A central technical element is the so-called "heat box" from Hansewerk Natur. The system works with heat pump technology and uses environmental energy in combination with green electricity.
The joint venture sees itself as a new partner in municipal heating planning and wants to contribute to achieving the climate targets in Schleswig-Holstein.
