The energy sector is always producing special images. We present some of them in our "Energy photo of the week" section.
RWE is currently building Germany's largest battery storage facility at the Gundremmingen site in Bavaria. The symbolic ground-breaking ceremony recently took place in the presence of Bavaria's Minister President Markus Söder (CSU). The facility is set to achieve an output of 400 MW and a storage capacity of 700 MWh and will go into operation at the beginning of 2027. The storage facility is being built on the site of the former Gundremmingen nuclear power plant. Just a few days earlier, on October 25, the two cooling towers were blown up. In the coming months, more than 200 containers with around 850,000 lithium iron phosphate battery cells will be installed.
