CrossConnect specialist forum enters second round in 2026
Innovative composite materials as the key to sustainable construction
04.03.2026
Following its successful launch in July 2024, the CrossConnect expert forum is returning to the Tölz campus and Benediktbeuern Monastery from May 18 to 20, 2026.
Under the title "Composite materials made of wood, carbon & co. as drivers for a future-oriented construction industry", the event will once again bring together stakeholders from research, industry and planning to discuss new construction methods, hybrid material concepts and sustainable construction solutions.
The first expert forum already impressively demonstrated the great potential of the interplay between wood, concrete and fiber composites. Two years ago, around 50 experts exchanged views on practical applications, current research projects and innovative renovation approaches, including the specific example of Benediktbeuern Monastery. The Energy & Construction Network was actively involved as a partner with the Innovative Construction division and supported the interdisciplinary exchange along the entire construction value chain.
The Innovative Construction division will be involved again in 2026 and will accompany the specialist forum as part of the strong network behind CrossConnect. The focus will be on the latest developments in innovative materials and composites and their contribution to a sustainable, efficient and creatively sophisticated construction industry. The specialist forum will show how wood, carbon, sustainable concrete, natural stone and modern joining technologies are changing the planning, construction and operation of buildings for the future.
Participants can expect a varied program of top-class keynotes, specialist presentations, practical examples, discussions and an interactive innovation workshop. While the first day will provide impulses on climate change-related challenges in the Alpine region, the second day will provide inspiration: the keynote speech by SAUERBRUCH HUTTON, winner of the Architecture Prize Germany 2025, will open the expert discussion before two thematically consecutive sessions and an evening event offer space for exchange. The event will conclude with a practical innovation workshop in small groups, in which the latest materials will be tested live and specific use cases will be developed on an interdisciplinary basis.
Contribute your perspectives, network and actively help shape the construction industry of tomorrow. Use the CrossConnect specialist forum as a platform for exchange, inspiration and practical innovation transfer. Register and become part of the network that brings together materials, technologies and ideas - for future-proof, sustainable construction.
