Vaillant is commissioning a new electric heat pump factory in Senica, Slovakia. Thus the company wants to increase production to more than 500,000 per year.

In the new factory of Vaillant in the Slovak Senica, which covers an area of 100,000 square meters, will be manufactured exclusively heat pumps from May 2023, the Remscheid-based heating technology specialist announced in this regard on March 10. The new plant is designed for an annual production capacity of 300,000 heat pumps. Thus the enterprise, which manufactures also in Germany, France and Great Britain heat pumps, doubles its production capacities on far more than half a million heat pumps per year.

"The enterprise contributes by the increased production capacities to arrange the heat change in Europe successfully and to realize the European Union goal of ten million again installed heat pumps to 2027," said Norbert Schiedeck, chairman of the management of the Vaillant Group. Overall, Vaillant Group already uses more than 50 per cent of its manufacturing space for the production of heat pumps, he added. Since 2016, Vaillant Group has placed its strategic focus on heat pump technology. Heat pumps have long been Vaillant's fastest-growing product segment (we reported).

Including projects currently underway, investments in the expansion of the continuously growing heat pump business amount to almost one billion euros, the company said. The focus was on expanding production capacities at the company's headquarters in Remscheid and manufacturing sites in France, the United Kingdom and Slovakia. During the same period, the company said it also increased its research and development capacity and expanded its heat pump product portfolio.

Depending on future market growth, the manufacturer plans to invest a further one billion euros in the coming years to expand production and development capacity as well as digital services related to heat pumps.
