AI Transfer Plus: Making SMEs fit for artificial intelligence

Funding program supports Bavarian companies in building AI expertise and implementing specific use cases - applications still possible until 15 April 2026

With the AI Transfer Plus program, the Free State of Bavaria is launching a new initiative to strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs in the field of artificial intelligence.

The program of the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs is coordinated by Bayern Innovativ and brings together business, science and politics in a targeted manner.

The aim is to enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to use AI strategically and implement specific applications in their own companies within nine months.

Holistic approach: strategy, know-how and implementation

KI-Transfer Plus pursues a practice-oriented approach that accompanies companies along the entire value chain:

Structured knowledge building:

Workshops, online modules and exchange formats impart practical AI expertise.

Individual AI strategy:

Companies develop a customized AI roadmap with the support of experts.

Concrete use case:

Within the program, an individual AI use case is implemented through to pilot operation.

Participants are accompanied by one of the eight Bavarian AI regional centers at universities, which ensure close and individual support.

Practical examples show concrete added value

Projects that have already been completed illustrate the potential:

Automated analysis of tender documents in the construction industry
AI-supported learning assistants in vocational training
Digital ordering processes in production

In addition to efficiency gains, companies benefit above all from improved data structures, new business models and a sustainably strengthened capacity for innovation - including in areas such as energy management and production.

The program is aimed at medium-sized companies with:

clear motivation to introduce AI
human resources for strategy and implementation
a permanent project manager
Budget for participation (€29,000 net)
