Weppler Filter has been gaining valuable experience in the medical field since the 1970s. In recent years, the company has systematically built up and professionalized this area. A significant step was the achievement of ISO 13485 certification in 2020, which serves as the basis for the development and manufacture of medical products. "Our aim is not just to keep up, but to establish ourselves as an efficient and reliable partner in medical technology," emphasizes Dr. Alexander Schulze Struchtrup, responsible for development and medical technology at Weppler Filter. "Weppler Filter is a family business, founded in 1935. Our strength lies in high volumes and excellent quality with extremely low error rates of less than 0.1 ppm. Our goal is very clear: zero defects, for maximum patient safety and customer satisfaction."

Weppler Filter's medical technology portfolio includes micro and precision filters designed in particular for applications in transfusion and infusion, ventilation and laboratory technology. This range is supplemented by high-precision technical plastic parts with overmolded inserts, such as integrated stainless steel cannulas. The focus is not just on the individual function, but rather on the combination of maximum precision, reproducible quality and industrial scalability. Schulze Struchtrup also emphasizes this: "Our name says it all: filters are our main product group. We also produce high-precision technical plastic parts without a classic filtration function. The question that accompanies us in every project: How can we maximize added value for our customers through clever component design and functional integration?"

Weppler Filter draws its expertise from decades of experience in automated manufacturing processes. With sub-ppm error rates, in-house tool and plant construction and in-depth process control, the company can also reliably implement safety-critical applications - a key aspect in terms of patient safety and regulatory requirements.

Another distinguishing feature is the pronounced cleanroom and cleanliness expertise. Among other things, the site has an ISO 8 class cleanroom for filter cleaning and its own residual dirt laboratory, which complies with ISO 6 in accordance with ISO 14644. Class ISO 5 laminar flow workstations are also used for particularly stringent requirements. "Especially with filters, cleanliness is not an option, but a basic requirement," says Schulze Struchtrup.

This infrastructure makes it possible to clean, test and package medical technology components under controlled conditions - and thus meet requirements that go beyond normative standards.

In international competition, Weppler Filter relies on customer proximity, resilient supply chains, quality "Made in Germany" and consistent functional integration as key differentiating factors. In addition to a high level of automation, sustainability aspects are also becoming increasingly relevant. Energy-efficient processes, CO₂ balancing in accordance with the GHG Protocol and the selection of suitable materials - including biocompatibility in accordance with ISO 10993 - are discussed with customers and implemented on a project-specific basis.

Starting with component production, Weppler Filter already produces selected assemblies today. And that is just the beginning, as Schulze Struchtrup explains: "Our perspective extends much further - to complex assemblies or even complete applications. We are taking this path step by step."
