Second funding call for funding programme for the decarbonization of industry

19.01.2026

New calls for funding for new and additional investments and developments in the field of low-CO2 production processes were published by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK) on January 6, 2026.

The BMWK has launched the second call for funding from the Federal Funding Program for Industry and Climate Protection (BIK). Companies have until 28 February 2026 to submit outlines for projects to decarbonize industry. Funding is available for investments and research projects in sub-modules 1 and 3 of module 1. These funding modules are managed by the Competence Center for Climate Protection in Energy-Intensive Industries (KEI).

The maximum funding amount for investment projects under sub-module 1 is 30 million euros and for research and development projects under sub-module 2 a maximum of 35 million euros. The exact funding conditions are described in the funding guidelines and the respective funding calls. The target groups for the various funding programs are energy-intensive industries such as steel, chemicals, glass and cement, but are not expressly limited to these sectors.

The deadline for submitting project outlines for the aforementioned funding calls is February 28, 2026. BIK is offering a digital outline workshop on January 27 for applications for Module 1. This will introduce the module and provide information on how to submit sketches.

There is also a second call for funding for CCU/CCS projects in Module 2. These are located at Project Management Jülich - PTJ.
