Four regional partners have founded "hydrogenXpertise GmbH" in Duisburg. The new company will develop hydrogen projects and advise companies.
Four major players from the Rhine-Ruhr region have pooled their expertise in the field of hydrogen in a joint company. Duisburger Hafen AG, Duisburger Versorgungs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft (DVV), Rheinenergie AG from Cologne and Westenergie AG from Essen have founded "hydrogenXpertise GmbH". The aim of the new company is to make better use of the potential of hydrogen along the entire value chain and to support the ramp-up of the technology in the region. It is based in Duisburg.
The company is owned equally by each of the four parent companies, according to the partners. Moritz Voormann from Westenergie and Ulrich Daamen from DVV have been appointed as managing directors. They are supported by Olaf Mack from Rheinenergie and Alexander Garbar from Duisport, who act as authorized signatories.
"hydrogenXpertise" does not initially intend to set up a large-scale project, according to reports from the Ruhr region. Instead, the service portfolio will be gradually geared towards demand. According to the founders, the focus will be on consulting, project support and organizational assistance. A particular focus will be on funding advice. The aim is to make it easier for small and medium-sized companies in the region in particular to enter the hydrogen economy.
Consulting and development as a core task
In addition to traditional consulting services, the company will also offer training courses. This will include workshops and market research. The partners emphasize that they are deliberately focusing on low-threshold offers in order to create niche advantages. In this way, the company says it wants to secure regional added value.
According to the companies involved, the company complements the existing activities of the partners, each of which has already gained its own experience in the field of hydrogen. Duisport is primarily active in logistics, Westenergie and Rheinenergie have experience in energy generation and supply, while DVV contributes municipal structures.
The foundation is one of a growing number of mergers in the German hydrogen sector. According to industry reports, "hydrogenXpertis" is seen as an attempt to give the Rhine-Ruhr region a stronger profile in competition with other hydrogen hubs in Germany. The partners want to position themselves better in the environment of national funding programs and European projects.
