The Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy has published several new funding announcements to support innovations in the fields of digitalization, communication technologies, cybersecurity and electronic systems.

The programs are aimed at consortia of companies and research institutions and promote projects that are implemented in Bavaria. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular are encouraged to participate. The maximum project duration is until the end of 2029.

The funding lines are particularly interesting for the energy sector, as many of the technologies addressed are central components of the energy transition - for example for smart grids, digital energy management systems, secure energy networks or AI-supported forecasts for renewable energies.

Project proposals can be submitted until April 16, 2026 at 2 p.m.

Funding announcements at a glance

Artificial intelligence - data science

The announcement promotes innovations in the field of data analysis, data science and artificial intelligence. The aim is to further develop digital processes, products and business models in companies.

For the energy sector, applications such as

• AI-supported forecasts for power generation and grid utilization

Communication networks of the future

This funding line supports innovations in communication technologies and digital network infrastructures.

• Real-time data transmission in digital energy systems

Cybersecurity

This call promotes technological innovations in the field of cyber security.

The topic is highly relevant for the energy sector in particular, for example for

• protection of critical energy infrastructures

Funding is provided for innovations in intelligent electronic systems that drive digitalization.
