#bayernkreativPORTRAIT: With our new series, we want to give the industry in Bavaria a face and show the potential of the cultural and creative industries. We start with the winners of the Kultur- und Kreativpiloten 2021, who come from Bavaria.
Could you briefly describe your business model?
OH WOMAN is revolutionizing sex education! Our vision: We create ease, normality and openness in dealing with sexuality, health and the body for self-confident interaction without shame. To this end, we have developed the board game OH WOMAN, which teaches knowledge about menstruation, the menstrual cycle and the body through fun and games. Our goal is to become the standard work for sex education - whether at home or at school.
Why did you apply to the Kultur- und Kreativpiloten?
We want to make a difference in our society, to change something, and to do this we need a strong network of experienced entrepreneurs and doers who can support us in our vision. Kultur- und Kreativpilot*innen seemed like the perfect match for us.
What does the award mean to you?
It's a huge honor for us to receive this award from the federal government. It emphasizes the relevance of OH WOMAN and motivates us to keep going.
What challenges do you (currently) face as female entrepreneurs?
We would like to mention two:
- We are a social impact start-up, a social business that sells a product (profit) and at the same time has a strong educational mission and wants to create a movement (non-profit). In Germany, we don't really have the right legal form and basis for this yet.
- The production of OH WOMAN needs to be optimized: Game production is completely new territory for us and therefore meant a lot of research work and network building.
About the award
Kultur- und Kreativpilot*innen Deutschland is an award presented by the federal government for companies in the cultural and creative industries and their interfaces with other sectors, which is aimed at self-employed people, founders and projects. It is looking for people who demonstrate courage, show commitment and always ask themselves: What can I do even better? The award is not an innovation prize, but rather focuses on the entrepreneurial personality - because especially in these challenging times, it is important to give the industry a face and show the innovative strength that is generated by the diversity of its courageous, different thinkers and pioneers.
The application phase for the Cultural and Creative Pilots 2022/23 begins on May 16 and ends on June 30, 2022. Are you interested in applying? You can find all further information here.
The Bavarian cultural and creative industries are vital. Cooperative. Polyphonic. And relevant to the future. We introduce you to Bavarian players. What is their business model? What drives them?
