The Enterprise Europe Network informs:
The European Commission has launched a call for evidence to find ways to make housing more affordable in Europe. This initiative will collect input from citizens, businesses, public authorities and other stakeholders until June 4. The aim is to develop a comprehensive European plan to tackle the housing crisis.
This includes the following measures:
- A broad public consultation on the topic from June to October.
- The doubling of cohesion policy funding for affordable housing (proposed in April).
- The launch of the first step towards a pan-European investment platform
- The adoption of the EU Affordable Energy Action Plan (February).
- The establishment of an advisory board that will make recommendations for the affordable housing plan.
The EU Commissioner for Housing, Dan Jørgensen, has set housing affordability as a political priority. The Commission plans to use the year 2025 for an intensive dialog on this topic to help millions of Europeans.
