Emission-free heating solution through the use of server waste heat

March 30, 2026

A start-up from Austria has developed an innovative technology that integrates digital infrastructure directly into the energy transition. The solution combines computing power and heat supply by integrating server modules into heating systems. In this way, the waste heat generated during computing processes is used entirely to heat buildings.
The decentralized server units enable climate-neutral heat supply while simultaneously operating cloud or AI applications. With an efficiency of up to 98% and a flow temperature of 80 °C, they are fully compatible with existing heating systems. As a result, heating costs can be significantly reduced or completely replaced, while the computing power can generate additional revenue.

Advantages and innovations

  • Double use of electrical energy: for computing power and heat supply
  • Up to 98% overall efficiency and 0 g CO₂ emissions during operation
  • Compatible with almost all heating systems (80 °C flow temperature)
  • Reduction in heating costs of up to 100% compared to fossil fuel systems
  • Potential additional annual profit of approx. € 8,000 through the provision of computing power
  • Compact, modular design with flexible scope of services
  • Patented technology with long-term protection and scalability

Wanted partners and forms of cooperation

The start-up is looking for energy suppliers, energy communities, data center operators, cloud service providers and local IT infrastructure operators as pilot customers and cooperation partners. The aim is to jointly test, adapt and launch the technology in different application environments. Research and development cooperation or commercial agreements with technical support are being sought.
