On October 9, 2025, Bayern Innovativ, together with the Bavarian Chip Alliance, Fraunhofer IISB, Cluster Sensor Technology, Cluster Power Electronics in the ECPE and the Enterprise Europe Network Bavaria, welcomed a delegation from the National Research Council (NRC) from Canada and representatives of the Canadian Embassy in Nuremberg.
The aim of the exploratory visit was to establish strong bilateral relations with Bavaria and to contribute Canadian expertise in chip design and compound semiconductors. Topics for future-oriented industrial research and development cooperation were also discussed during a round table discussion on semiconductor supply chains, design, packaging and innovative power electronics and sensor technology.
One highlight of the program was a tour of the ultra-modern silicon clean room laboratory at Fraunhofer IISB in Erlangen, which is one of the largest and most efficient research facilities of its kind in Germany and Europe. There, the international guests were able to see state-of-the-art production processes for semiconductors and power electronics.
The Enterprise Europe Network will be happy to support future initiatives of the NRC and the Canadian Embassy with its partnering and consulting services in order to further expand the variety of international opportunities for Bavarian SMEs and actively strengthen their access to global innovation networks.
