The EU Commission has launched two public consultations. It is collecting contributions on the "Digital Europe" program until 20 September and on the Network and Information Security (NIS2 Directive) to counter cyber threats over the next four weeks.
Consultations on the Digital Europe program
The "Digital Europe" (DIGITAL) program, which has a budget of over 7.9 billion euros, focuses on making digital technologies accessible to companies, citizens and public administrations. The consultation is aimed at SMEs, non-governmental organizations, universities, social partners, authorities and citizens from EU member states and associated countries, among others. The EU Commission will subsequently publish a report with the results and the responses of the interest groups here. Stakeholders are invited to submit their contributions by September 20.
Consultation on the NIS2 Directive
The EU Commission intends to adopt an implementing act for the revised Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2 Directive) to counter cyber threats in Europe by October 17. It is asking for feedback on its draft within the next four weeks. The new legal act is intended to define the technical and methodological requirements for cyber security risk management for certain entities in the areas of digital infrastructures, digital providers and the management of information and communication technology services (business-to-business).
The NIS2 Directive now covers medium and large entities from a wider range of sectors that are critical to the economy and society, including providers of public electronic communications services, digital services, wastewater and waste management, critical product manufacturing, postal and courier services and public administration.
