The expansion of wind energy in Bavaria is clearly picking up speed.
According to Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Hubert Aiwanger, the increasing number of new applications shows that the turnaround has been achieved. The Windkümmerer® 2.0 program, the conclusion of which was celebrated in Regensburg, played an important role in this.
"The Windkümmerer make a key contribution to the sensible expansion of wind power in Bavaria," said Aiwanger. They support local authorities in planning, securing land and public relations work - and thus create trust locally.
Since the start of the program, 373 projects have been supervised, 349 actively supported and 108 successfully completed. Bavaria currently has 1,162 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.7 GW. This year alone, 754 new turbines have been applied for and 109 approved.
The realization time for new wind turbines has halved from seven to three to four years. The successor program Windkümmerer® 3 is to be launched from 2026 to provide further support to local authorities.
