Review: Symposium Focus on Alpine Construction 2025

Technical impulses and creative perspectives for sustainable construction

30.10.2025

On October 22, 2025, everything revolved around the future of construction in the Alpine region at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. Under the motto "Rethinking construction: innovative, circular, digital", the specialist symposium Brennpunkt Alpines Bauen 2025 brought together experts from architecture, the construction industry, research and technology to discuss current challenges and solutions for sustainable and resource-conserving construction.

We were also on site as part of our partnership in the EU Interreg project Bauhalps and were able to gain exciting insights into new developments, research approaches and practical projects. The focus was particularly on topics such as the circular economy, deconstruction-oriented planning, AI-supported recycling and parametric design in timber construction - all key topics for sustainable construction in the Alpine region.

However, a central impulse of the symposium for us was that aesthetic and creative aspects are becoming increasingly important: Sustainable building is not just technical engineering - it is also culture, design and identity. The creative perspectives from the creative industries provide important impetus for the sector, and this is precisely where our work comes in: as translators of complex topics and as storytelling partners who bring content to life.

This was demonstrated particularly impressively in the closing keynote by Stefan Stockinger (Storyteller, AT): "New narratives for a sustainable transformation of the construction industry". Storytelling is thus becoming a decisive contribution to the transformation of the industry - the cultural and creative industries bring these messages to the point and make them accessible for practical use.

In addition to the professional impulses, the symposium offered plenty of opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange. In personal dialog with industry colleagues, it became clear once again that innovation, responsibility and creativity are the key drivers for the construction industry of tomorrow. We are delighted to have been part of this inspiring event - a day full of inspiration, dialog and perspectives for sustainable, aesthetically pleasing and future-oriented construction in the Alpine region.
